The new Fiorentina stadium project aims to realize an important sport facility for 40.000 spectators, within a very complex urban environment, which is the Mercafir (Centro Alimentare Polivalente). The realization of the new stadium has two objectives: on one side to create a very innovative sport facility, integrated in the city and in line with the most important international stadia and on the other side to renovate the historical connection between people-supporters-stadium, through a new stadium which should become the new identifying symbol for Fiorentina club and a new icon for the city. The geometry and the shape of the stadium meet the audience distribution needs in favor of the best sightline of the bowl and they are so that the façade moves following a soft line as if it mirrors the sinuous curvature of the Tuscan hills. In line with the above objectives, the acoustic design has the aim to ensure an active and lively environment to promote a great stadium experience for spectators and players, to obtain clear and audible public information and emergency announcements so that spectators safety is achieved, to ensure that the surrounding areas are protected from additional noise emission. The shape and material of the stadium roof have been studied to optimize the acoustic response within the stadium bowl and reproduce the so called “arena effect” which plays in favor of a great stadium experience for spectators and players.
