As an iconic building located in Amstelkwartier, within innovative sustainable constructions, Haut is a 73 meters and 21 floors residential tower, using wood as it main building material (Cross Laminated Timber – CLT). In this way it provides an answer to the Municipality of Amsterdam’s request for CO2 neutrality. In addition to a wooden high-rise construction, HAUT is fitted with an energy-generating façade, with triple glazing and where possible, it includes recyclable materials. It has a total of 14,500 m2 gross floor area with bicycles parking and an underground car park, a Health & Performance Club located on the ground floor and a public indoor city garden enabling the residents to grow their own vegetables. Unlike most timber buildings, only the inner walls of HAUT are load-bearing, which allows for large floor-to-ceiling windows in the façade. The irregular pattern of balconies and the pronounced, double-height spaces facing the River Amstel make HAUT’s architecture distinctive. The acoustic consultancy focussed on the evaluation of the façade sound insulation to control noise and vibration from the road and railway nearby. In addition, the acoustic design included the assessment of the internal sound insulation and impact noise isolation as well as junction details between the horizontal and vertical CLT panels to control potential flanking paths. The support during the construction was to review the shop drawings and details proposed by the general contractor to make sure that were suitable to avoid flanking paths.
