The Bio Hotel Raphäel, a 5-star luxury hotel with 50 rooms, 20 of which are suites, is a jewel set in time in one of the most evocative locations in the Italian capital, rich in art and with a collection of art works in continuous care of the hotel's owner. The hotel is located in Largo Febo, a small square behind Piazza Navona in the centre of Rome. It has the characteristic of collecting and giving to the view of its visitors, the perspective of a summa of typical details of the city of Rome: eighteenth-century buildings in a historic centre regulated by a restricted traffic zone that keeps the city chaos far away. In this small square, it is usual to see groups of tourists stopping and admiring one of the most beautiful buildings: behind the Bramante cloister, a cascade of American vines, mixed with wisteria and bougainville, covers the façade of a building that has told the story of recent Italian history. Only the illuminated windows of the guests break the green facade of the Bio Hotel Raphaël and the scenery that appears is one of the most enchanting that the eternal city can offer. In order to guarantee a comfortable stay and to provide the best possible service to guests, the first floor of the hotel was completely renovated, from a structural, architectural and plant engineering point of view. From an acoustic point of view, a review of the architectural and building services package of the refurbished floor was carried out, in order to guarantee the control of noise from outside to inside the bedrooms, through the appropriate selection of the hotel windows based on a noise survey was carried out outside the hotel at different times of the day; the level of sound insulation between the bedrooms and between the bedrooms and the corridor and finally to guarantee the achievement of the background noise levels established for the rooms. In order to ensure the achievement of the above acoustic targets, a comparison between the acoustic criteria established by the different operators of the major 5-star luxury hotels was also done.
